Pengguna Aktif Threads Terus Merosot, Turun 79% dalam Sebulan
Jakarta -

A month after launch, Threads is still having a hard time retaining its users. The Twitter /X competitor application is even reported to have lost 79% of its users in the United States.

According to a report by Similarweb , the number of daily active users of Threads worldwide peaked on July 7, 2023, at 49.3 million people. But a month later on August 7, the number of active users fell to 10.3 million people.

Even at its peak the number of daily active users on Threads couldn't beat Twitter. According to Similarweb data , the average daily active Twitter user reaches 100 million people.

In the United States, the number of daily active users of Threads reached its highest point on July 7, 2023, at 2.3 million people. On Aug. 7, that figure was down 79% leaving about 576,000 people.

In addition to the declining number of users, users who are still active on Threads spend less time on the Meta's application.

Similarweb data shows Threads users around the world spent an average of 14 minutes in the early days when the app was first launched. Whereas in the United States, the engagement rate is slightly higher at around 21 minutes.

But on August 7, Threads' remaining active users spent an average of three minutes on the app. The difference is very much compared to Twitter, whose users consistently spend around 25 minutes a day.

Not only are many users left behind, large US companies such as fast food franchise Wendy's, fashion retailer Anthropologie , and makeup brand Rare Beauty, have been posting less and less on Thread, as quoted from The Guardian, Wednesday (16/8/2023).

Threads was first released as an alternative to Twitter on July 5. This application was launched when Twitter users were annoyed with Elon Musk's series of policies that were considered controversial, such as limiting the number of tweets that could be read in a day.

Just hours after launch, more than five million users registered Threads accounts . In less than a week the number of Threads registrants exceeded 100 million people, and broke the record as the fastest application to get 100 million users.
